Summary of the Validation Process

  • Review Bilateral Agreements

Examine the agreements between the FAA and the foreign regulatory authority to understand the validation framework.

  • Application Submission

Prepare and submit an application package, including the STC Design Data Package, a formal validation application form and a draft letter for initial communication between the FAA and the foreign authority.

  • Coordination

Establish communication between the FAA, the foreign authority and the operator seeking validation. JANA’s ODA maintains open communication to facilitate a smooth process.

  • Technical Review

The foreign authority may review the submitted data, assessing design changes for compliance with local regulations and safety standards. Additional data or modifications may be requested.

  • Additional Requirements

Fulfill any STC requirements imposed by the foreign authority, such as additional tests, inspections or specific amendments.

  • Issuance of Validation Certificate

Once the foreign authority is satisfied that the STC meets the applicable standards, a validation certificate is issued, recognizing the FAA STC as valid in that country. This certificate allows the certified modification to be legally implemented on aircraft registered in that country.
